Matthew has declared...

he wants to be known as Matt Matt. He's now pointing to himself and saying, "matt matt" all the time. Two years of telling everyone we're going to call him Matthew and not Matt. :-) Oh well, what are you gonna do?

Who's ready for a road trip?

See, and I didn't even realize Matthew could drive stick. James must have taught him while I was on a business trip.

Smoke detectors!

So tonight, as James is heading to bed, I hear a little chirp in the kitchen. I figure it's something in the dishwasher clicking against something else. But no such luck - it's the battery in the smoke detector actually IN Matthew's room. I thought it sounded like the dishwasher because it came through the baby monitor. So James gets the ladder and a new battery, goes into Matthew's room and gets the damn thing off the ceiling, takes it into Matthew's bathroom, replaces the battery and somehow gets it back on the ceiling - all without actually waking him up! Too funny.

Matthew had his fourth haircut today - first one without tears! I was thrilled to walk into Style America to see him calmly sitting in James' lap, wearing a Disney drape while Lupe cut his hair. He was iffy on the hairdryer though... okay, we'll work on that one. We got the spare hairdryer out after his bath tonight and tried it out. He was still iffy on it. :-)

He also invented a game where he takes the pillows off of the big yellow chair, and then jumps headfirst onto them on the floor (all of six inches - I"m not too worried about him hurting himself). Toddlerhood is just a barrel of laughs.

Matthew's red trike

Now that he's outgrown his beloved plastic ride-on truck, we decided to upgrade him to a Radio Flyer push trike. (Although technically it's a four wheeler and not a tricycle)

And for once, I'll let myself be seen and not just heard.

Back from the blog.dead

Okay, now that the end of the year has passed... and January too... I return with an update.

Christmas was good - we survived the 10 hour flight to England and managed to get ourselves an upgrade rental car. Mercedes - sweet. Good thing we got those leather seats, as Matthew managed to get car sick not once, but twice. Aigh. Anyway, we had a good week, Matthew enjoyed meeting his cousins and seeing his Nana and Gramps again.

Now it's back to the same old same old. It's been cold and wintry here. Matthew has been stuck inside, so he's been playing with all sorts of things he finds in the kitchen.

Look how big he's getting!

Must start planning his birthday party.
